What we’re about
The Society of Health Policy Young Professionals (the Society) was founded in May 2006 on behalf of DC-area young professionals working or interested in the health, health care, and health policy fields. The Society is an innovative organization created to foster new relationships among young professionals, to provide a forum for networking and socializing, as well as to organize professional development and skill-building events and community service activities. Mission The Society is a not-for-profit, non-partisan organization designed to meet the diverse needs of individuals interested in the health, health care, and health policy fields. The Society seeks to help young professionals forge meaningful and long-term professional relationships through the activities the Society provides. For its members, the Society offers a wealth of career-related information and tools as well as regularly scheduled social and career-development events in the greater Washington, DC area. The Society seeks to: Organize social and community service events to encourage networking between young professionals in the health, health care, and policy fields Organize career-development events for young professionals Inform young professionals of both career and networking opportunities As the inter-related fields of health care delivery and health policy grow, so does the need to identify and highlight future leaders in these fields. The Society, therefore, aims to create a sustainable, permanent organization that forges meaningful and long-term professional relationships and provides career-development opportunities. To achieve this vision, the Society continues to actively recruit members, increase its visibility, and develop strategic partnerships.
