People, Planet & Cities - ZooLights in DC

Details

As we prepare for the holidays, which often means over-consumption in the economy, but also the wonderful reconnections with loved ones, and the essential values of our lives...how about a fun evening at Zoolights?

We'll meet between 5 & 5:30 at the Visitors Center building, just a short walk into the Zoo from the sign on Connecticut Ave. They'll have hot cider and other drinks there, as well as a community exhibit. If you're really looking for holiday shopping moment, you can support the zoo and get a fun nature inspired treasure at the gift shop there also.

If you'll sign up, we'll even make you a name tag to hand out at the meetup! Considering "equitable access" we are selecting the zoolights also because it is free to the public, and has accommodations for disabilities if you may wish to bring loved ones, friends or if you have a need...please do let us know so we can coordinate.

Agenda
5-5:45: We'll have a short period of meet and greet where it is warm and light so we can see each other. This will allow everyone to also explore the first stop and pick up maps.

5:45-6:30 - We'll take the walk to appreciate the natural world created to preserve green space in the city, educating the public about nature's nurture, and also BE part of the community involvement! It is noteworthy that recently Bei Bei the panda is returning to China to help repopulate pandas in their natural homeland. So a big part of the value of the zoo and similar spaces in cities represents a truly "natural" intersection of people, planet and policy! You'll probably get a chance to hear some of the kids choirs in the community as they often share their talents this time of year!

6:30 - We'll find a sheltered point somewhere along the way - perhaps the reptile house in the lower zoo, to reconnect with anybody who wandered and also to discuss "next steps" --literally and figuratively LOL.

6:30-7 Part of the fun is wandering in the big garden at night and allowing yourself to breathe a bit after a long day. So you can make your walk back in whatever direction you may desire...

7:00 optional...We are open to continuing the fun at the Zoo Bar across the street from the Zoo. We'll be there. Thinking forward to 2020...

NOTE: Sean G. has mentioned to us in the past that issues of Sustainability must focus on people and diverse global to local issues as well as planet or environment....or even green business development. We are hoping to locate leaders who will own the varied issues and form a Board of Advisors in 2020. So PLEASE consider exercising your own leadership talents so we can BE the change...

Thanks for signing on and hope to have you join us in the forum as well as at the meetup!

Thinking forward,
Phyllis
