Visit the Brooklyn Museum

We will spend the day venturing to the Brooklyn Museum, one of Brooklyn’s most popular attractions located near Prospect Park. After touring the museum, we will eat dinner at a restaurant in either the nearby Prospect Heights or Crown Heights communities.

The Brooklyn Museum is one of the largest and oldest art museums in the country. The museum is over 560,000 square feet and features over 1,500,000 works of art. There are many collections of paintings, sculptures, and originating from Asia, Africa, Europe, and other parts of the globe. Current exhibitions include Connecting Cultures: A World in Brooklyn, African Innovations, The Fashion World of Jean Paul Gaultier, and Lorraine Hansberry’s “letter to “The Ladder. Important Note: Admission into the museum is $12.

Important Information

-We will meet at Union Station at 8:00AM.

-We will be traveling to New York through the Megabus service. Tickets can be purchased online at www.megabus.com (http://www.megabus.com/) ($45 - 60 average for round trip).

-When entering website, schedule bus trip for 8:50AM - 1:30PM (Depart to New York), and schedule the return trip for 9:00PM - 1:10AM (Return to DC). The date of the trip is Saturday, October 11, 2014. Please be sure to enter information correctly, as Megabus does not refund tickets; however, they will allow you to reschedule trip 24 hours prior to the scheduled trip date.

-For those who wish to sit at a table on the MegaBus, table seats are now an additional $5.00 per trip. Front window seats at the top deck are now an extra $7.00 per trip.

-Union Station is located at 50 Massachusetts Avenue, NE, Washington, DC. Union Station is also Metro accessible on the Red Line at the Union Station Metro Station. Parking at Union Station is available at their parking garage; however, the maximum cost is $22.00 for one day parking.
