• What we'll do
Join us for a weekend trek up into The Ramsey’s Draft Wilderness. One of the few virgin forests in Virginia. Just be prepared to get your feet wet. There are numerous stream crossings (10+). I’ll meet you all at the trailhead. We can organize the carpools from the DC area once it gets closer. We’ll camp near the trailhead the first night. We’ll start early up the draft making our way to the spring at the top. We’ll take a side trip to an overlook and remains of a fire tower and then hike along the ridge to a nice campsite with a view. On Sunday we’ll hike down the mountain and cross the stream. We’ll do a hike up the other side of the draft up to the Shenandoah Mountain Trail and the Confederate Breastworks to see how the view is from there. We’ll then make our way back to the cars and have a nice lunch in Staunton.
