What we’re about
Welcome to the DC Urban Walkers! We explore urban environments throughout DC and the surrounding areas. As part of our focus on urban areas, we prioritize Metro accessibility and typically start and stop at stations. Sometimes we host special day trips where we visit nearby cities by train. The routes can have mixed terrain including sidewalks, gravel, hiking trials, etc. Note that while we do include hiking trails within cities, we do not consider ourselves a hiking group.

Monuments Night Walk (4 miles, Smithsonian)
Smithsonian Metro station, 12th St NW, Washington, DC, USNow that the sun sets early let’s enjoy the monuments at night. We will start at the Smithsonian metro station near the mall metro entrance. From there we will walk to the Lincoln memorial hitting up the monuments on the way, then we will circumnavigate the tidal basin back to the metro. Parts of this walk are very dark at night so I recommend using a flashlight/phone flashlight.
Time: 5:30 PM
Start/End Location: Smithsonian Metro
Millage: 4
Terrain: There will mostly be paved and level ground, but it will be very dark in some sections.---
We try to be punctual with our event times so please be respectful to others and show up a few minutes early. Note, we often limit the RSVPs to keep group sizes manageable. If you are on the waitlist but would really like to join, reach out to the organizer.
Our events prioritize metro accessibility by meeting and ending at metro stations. Sometimes we start/stop at the same station, sometimes we do not. Please double check the event description to see if you can manage transportation.
