EVENT DESCRIPTION
The word 'Digital' is not very self evident.
There are many different versions of what it means, and they are all right!
Come and hear from a number of 'Digital' industry professionals about what it means to them.
In true debating style, each speaker gets 10 minutes to make a strong case for what digital is to them, and why we should agree with them.
After all speakers have presented, a second round provides the opportunity to respond to any of the other speakers.
Come to listen. Come to speak.
Make it elegant or make it a tirade!
Can't attend on the night? Post your view to social media now! #whatisdigital
OR Record a video and tag it with #whatisdigital (also send us the link) and we will play it on the night.
We will also setup a videocast via Meerkat or similar. The link will be posted on Friday afternoon.
Here's to debating.
SPEAKER INSTRUCTIONS:
I should point out at this point that it is not a Debate in a formal sense. I had planned to allow speakers to pitch their view, and assuming that the views are divergent enough, a rebuttal would be required.
We have discussed this and it is possible that there will not be enough disagreement to allow for the formal format so we are going to change format slightly.
FORMAT:
Each speaker will have up to 10 minutes to give a lightning talk about what digital means to them. They should consider:
What ‘Digital’ means in your work/ industry / context.
What it means in domain domain and to your clients.
Have a strong position and make it clear.
You will only have time for one main idea, so think it through, and make it a bold statement!
No slides
If there are divergent views, we will definitely have the ability to get up and deliver a rebuttal.
The plan is for the conversation to continue after the speakers, allowing all attendees to speak and have a view expressed.
There will be beer and Pizza!!
Participating by hashtag before the event:
You can start the debate now on the hashtag #whatisdigital
If you cannot attend, you can use this hashtag to contribute.
Pre Recorded Video:
There are one or two speakers who cannot attend, and I would love for them to contribute a pre-recorded video.
Same format as above, but you will need to upload it and tag it with #whatisdigital
Ideally upload to youtube, but any video host is ok provided we can view it live on the night.
Any questions, please just let me know..
If you are interested in giving a 10 minute talk, please message Mike Biggs.
