30 Foot Rapel into the Depths of a Cave is the Final Frontier-- come for a REAL ADVENTURE! This is one of our coolest and most fun events! For you folks that have never been caving/spelunking/rappelling make sure to check this off your ‘to do’ list!! The winter is the perfect time to do this event because you do not get too warm! We have knowledgeable guides who will go through caving practices, rapelling guidelines, and safety-oriented instruction.

If you've been to our CAVING in West Virginia then this is a Step Beyond what you've seen.

Rapelling is definately more advanced than crawling around on your knees -- but wait till you get to base of the cave... Take a buddy and Explore on your knees the nooks & crannies or what lies beneath. :)

WARNING: This event is guided by professionals. HOWEVER, there are some folks that are uncomfortable with the dark, tight spaces or with heights. If this is the case then your welcome to pass to this event.

DEPARTURE TIME:

9:00am: Meet at Shady Grove Metro stlation for pick up OR

9:45am: Meet at Clock tower on German Street in Shepherdstown, WV

2:30pm depart cave: Head back to drop folks off in Shepherdstown,WV by 3PM.

Return to Shady Grove Metro Station by 4:00pm

PRICE: $110.00/pp (transportation cost - included. If you decide to drive seperately there is no discount.) 12 slots only.

WHAT TO WEAR: Did we mention that caving is a DIRTY sport? (Just my kind of sport!) Wear your oldest, flexible clothing and old shoes that still have a tread.

WHAT WE SUPPLY: We will supply super stylish cavesuits (you may easily be confused w/ the local jailbirds). We'll also supply helmets with headlamps and knee pads. Don't bother bringing a flashlight-- you'll need your hands for scrambling! We will also provide all the gear for rapelling.

WHAT TO BRING: Make sure to bring lunch or snacks to share, and a bottle of water for after caving. Waterproof gloves with help keep your hands warm.

CARPOOL: Don’t forget if you want a ride or are willing to offer a ride – be a friend to the environment, save money, and make friends by just posting a message!! Have a ride: Please post where you are coming from, what time, and how many spots you have. Need a ride: Post that you need a ride and contact any offers via e-mail for those that are offering rides.
