Intro to Whitewater Kayaking Beginner Level 1

Details

Living in the DC area and not whitewater kayaking, is like living in Vail and not being a skier. The DC are has more kayakers than anywhere, and for good reason. There is every type of whitewater available within a ten minute drive from DC, with easy access.

You have to start somewhere, before you go "shootin the rapids", and that means taking a quality beginner lesson to get all the fundamentals necessary. The indoor pool is a great place to do just that. The indoor pool is warm, safe, and familiar. The pool is an easy place to be able to be comfortable, and focused, while you get the basics down.

Valley Mill has been teaching whitewater kayaking since 1956. Valley Mill has patient, skilled, and fun instructors who will guide you through this two hour lesson.

All kayaks and gear is included in this two hour lesson.

In the lesson you will learn the basics; kayak and gear orientation, the wet exit(how to get out of the kayak upside down), the hip-snap(body movement that rights the kayak),the T-rescue, and the brace/roll

The two hour lesson covers a lot. It's a quick paced, fun, and informative class. Sign up be ready to be challenged.
