Summary:
At first glance, Jetpack Macrobenchmark seems fairly simple: write a test scenario, run the benchmark before and after an optimization, and voilà — a 20% improvement in the median result! Unfortunately, a colleague has the bad idea of rerunning the same benchmark and only gets a 15% improvement. Who’s right? Which result should you report?
This talk will teach you how to dig deeper than just a benchmark result, gain a better understanding of what you’ve actually measured, and sprinkle in just enough statistics to sound clever at cocktail parties.
