He is a business strategist, entrepreneur, and early stage venture investor with more than 18 years of experience leading business planning and consulting engagements for entrepreneurs, small businesses, and multi-national organizations in both the private and public sector. He brings his experience as a Techstar Entrepreneur-In-Residence and as the Director of their Startup Next Cybersecurity DC pre-accelerator program that was designed to provide cyber startups with expertise and mentorship. Jason is the founder of VentureScope, where he operates MACH37 and advises early stage startups and entrepreneurs. He also cofounded HackEd, a cybersecurity hands-on-keyboard training company, and WeatherAlpha, a weather data analytics company. Tom Weithman: Tom serves as the Chief Investment Officer for MACH37 and Managing Director of the CIT GAP Funds. As a founder of MACH37, Weithman brings 12 years prior early stage and cybersecurity investment experience to his present role. Formed by Weithman in 2005, CIT GAP Funds has gained national recognition as one of the nation’s most active early stage venture funds and a premiere provider of capital to cybersecurity start-ups. Through MACH37, Weithman has funded 50+ seed stage cybersecurity companies. CIT GAP Funds has provided early funding to 13 additional early stage cybersecurity companies including Invincea (acquired by Sophos), ADI (acquired by Silicom), SpydrSafe (acquired by Okta), and 4Front Security (acquired by Symantec). CIT GAP Funds active cybersecurity portfolio includes Distil Networks, DivvyCloud, ID.me, PFP Cybersecurity and ThreatQ. Jon Ferris: Jon Ferris is a serial tech entrepreneur with experience in technology outsourcing, data science, and cybersecurity. His first company failed immediately – his second did well and still runs out of Seattle. He exited his third and then created his fourth, a cybersecurity education provider HackEd, which was recently acquired by SecureSet Academy. Jon has stayed on as Director of SecureSet’s Arlington Campus. When he’s away from the office, you’ll find him swimming, surfing, or traveling. He lives with his wife and three daughters in Falls Church, VA.
