What we're about

DC Dads Group is a diverse community of fathers who take an active role in our children’s lives. We host meet-ups several times per month, with our kids at parks, playgrounds, museums, sporting events, parent-and-me classes, and anywhere else we feel compelled within the Washington, DC metro area. We also host Dads Nights Out to give our members an opportunity to socialize, have fun, learn, and support each other as we navigate parenthood.

We are dads of all stripes: married dads, single dads, dads who share custody, adoptive dads, step-dads, stay at home dads, full time working dads, work from home dads, freelance dads, etc. Our meet-ups occur both during the week and on weekends to accommodate both stay at home dads and working dads. We welcome all involved fathers in and around the DC area who want to socialize and interact with other guys who enjoy spending quality time with their children. The only requirement to joining us is to be a dad. There are no group dues and no attendance expectations. We have some dads who come consistently to most of what we do, and we have some dads who might only come out once or twice per year. We’re here for all dads whenever they are ready to participate.

DC Dads Group is part of the City Dads Group, a dynamic and diverse community of fathers dedicated to being active in their children’s lives and, by example, redefining what it means to be a dad in the 21st century. City Dads Group has active groups in many major metropolitan areas throughout the United States. Find them all here at http://citydadsgroup.com/

Dads Getting Breakfast 🥞🧇🥓🍳🍩 - [DADS ONLY]

Needs a location

Friday mornings are a great time to grab breakfast with a few local dads in the area before you start your day.

Do yourself a favor before you go to work or start a long holiday weekend by dropping in on Dads Getting Breakfast.

Why?

My late grandpa was a World War II veteran who drove a cab in New Orleans for 40 years. Whenever my grandpa would pick me up from school, he'd bring me to McDonald's on Elysian Fields and Gentilly Blvd.

He went to that particular McDonald's because all of his friends and colleagues were there throughout the day.

What were they doing?
Sipping coffee or eating french fries and talking about life or debating random topics.

I found the environment intriguing because all of the men were around the same age and seemed to enjoy the company of other individuals.

Seeing my grandpa with his male friends and former colleagues occurred over 25 years ago.

All of those guys are most likely long gone, but the experience is still with me.

Why am I sharing this seemingly pointless story?

The goal of this session is to recreate what my grandad had in New Orleans with the hopes of getting other dads together before the weekend starts or life gets out of control.

Every Friday, we'll be meeting at Bob's Ediths in Springfield from 7 am to 8 am.

One more note before I go.

Thanks for joining me on this journey. By participating in this group, you're helping yourself decrease anxiety, reduce signs of depression, and increase your quality of life.

Congratulations on taking steps to build a life by design!

Onward,
AW

[IN-PERSON] Alexandria, VA - Dads 🤼 Getting Coffee ☕ - [DADS ONLY]

What's up, DC Dads?

Dads Getting Coffee is a relaxing get-together where Dads grab a cup of coffee and chat. Too often events are tied to doing something which distracts you from simply talking about what's going on in your life.

The DC Dads Group's mission is to bring local Dads together. What better way to do it than over a cup of joe. Usually, 10 - 12 dads attend this monthly recurring event.

To pass the time, some guys bring playing cards or their favorite board game. This is a great event for a new dad to meet the group and start the bonding process.

I'll see everyone at 6 pm. You can find me sitting at the large table next to the tea service and food expo area wearing a fedora or Panama hat.

See you on Tuesday!
