Event Details:
Escape the hustle and bustle of these crazy times and immerse yourself in a serene environment where art, architecture, and nature harmoniously converge. We're hanging with the DMV Travel With Me group for this event since they are traveling to one of the most amazing hidden gems in the DC area. If you're a member of both groups no need to RSVP twice.
Itinerary:
- 11:30 a.m. – Arrival and Welcome: We'll gather at the museum's Arrival Hall, designed by architect Thomas Phifer, which sets the tone for the day's contemplative experience.
- 11:45 p.m. – Lunch at The Café: Indulge in a seasonal menu featuring locally sourced ingredients at Glenstone's Café. With its warm wooden interior and communal dining tables, it's the perfect setting to relax and connect with fellow members. Please note that seating is on a first-come, first-served basis, and vegan and gluten-free options are available.
- 12:45 p.m. – Hike Through the Outdoor Sculpture Trails: After lunch, we'll embark on a hike along Glenstone's nearly 300 acres of landscape, featuring paths, trails, streams, meadows, forests, and thoughtfully placed outdoor sculptures. Experience monumental works by renowned artists such as Richard Serra, Jeff Koons, and Ellsworth Kelly, seamlessly integrated into the natural surroundings.
- And if it rains? We’ll just head indoors to the Pavilions.
- Additional Information:
- Admission: Glenstone Museum is free to the public, but visits must be scheduled in advance. We will handle the group reservation; however, we’re requesting you secure your place with a $5 meetup group donation. We hope that this will help us ensure we save space for only those who are committed. Please RSVP by March 20 to ensure your spot and we will send payment information and confirm your set aside ticket.
- Transportation: Carpooling is encouraged. Parking is free at the museum. For those preferring public transportation, the Montgomery County Ride On Bus #301 services the museum.
- Attire: Wear comfortable walking shoes and dress appropriately for the weather to fully enjoy the outdoor trails and sculptures.
RSVP: Please confirm your attendance by March 20 to ensure we can accommodate everyone for this enriching experience.
Don't miss this chance to engage with art, nature, and fellow travel enthusiasts in a setting designed to inspire reflection and connection. We look forward to sharing this memorable day with you!
