Cherry Blossoms mark the beginning of spring in Washington, DC. Whether you are new in town or a lifelong DC resident the blossoming cherry trees are amazing/beautiful/gorgeous/spectacular to see up-close in person. Our walk will take place right after the “peak bloom” time, which this year is between Wednesday, March 23 and Thursday, March 24.

Scheduled Walk

6:00 pm Friday, March 25 around the the Tidal Basin, walking approximately 2.8 miles. We'll see the Jefferson Memorial, Franklin D. Roosevelt Memorial and Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial.

The walk starts at concludes at the Smithsonian Metro, although you can depart from the walk elsewhere if needed.

Meeting Point

The Smithsonian Metro station has two exits. Meet at the Smithsonian Metro Station – National Mall exit at 12th St. and Jefferson Dr. SW – NOT at the exit at the SW corner 12th St. & Constitution Ave., SW, although we’ll walk past there after we get started.

Look for Robert, wearing a Meetup sticker.

PLEASE BE ON-TIME or even early. The Cherry Blossom Festival, which runs from Sunday, March 16 through Sunday, April 17, is an EXTREMELY POPULAR event so traffic, parking, Metro rides, etc. will take longer than normal – plan accordingly.

We’ll have our traditional group icebreaker introductions then get started. If you’re late it will be difficult for me to answer phone calls and/or texts once we got started. It will also be difficult to catch up with the group since we’ll be walking away from the meeting point and won’t be able to wait for late arrivals. If you want to walk with our group, and in consideration of others, PLEASE BE ON-TIME or even early to the meeting point.

Weather

The walk will take place light rain or shine. If an event is cancelled it will be removed from the Meetup calendar as soon as that decision is made. If the event is listed on the Meetup event calendar then we’re still a go. However, please check the Meetup event calendar for any updates.

Additional Comments & Questions

Please read the event description carefully. Please also keep your RSVP up-to-date so we know how many people to expect. Members that are RSVP and “no show” without a reasonable explanation are subject to removal from the group (unfortunately 50+ instances the past year).

If there are any questions that can’t be answered from the preceding event description, the cherry blossom web sites, or Google please let me know.
