Saturday Night Full Moon Walk: National Mall Monuments & Memorials (FREE)

Washington DC's monuments and memorials on the National Mall are spectacular in the evening, and even more so during a full moon. With the September full moon falling on a Saturday come join us for a pleasant evening walk with friendly people.
Our walk will start and end at the National World War II Memorial and cover approximately 2.5 miles past Washington DC's most famous monuments and memorials, with several breaks along the way. Please note, this is more of a walk than a guided tour - although some brief information on the sites we’re visiting may be provided.

Registration: FREE - this event is open to the public and all are welcome to join us. Unfortunately, due to National Park Service regulations, non-service animals are not allowed within the monuments and memorials, but well-behaved pets are ok in the other areas on our walk.

Weather: The event will take place light rain (sprinkles) or shine. If it's on our calendar, then we're proceeding as scheduled.

Meeting Point: The National World War II Memorial, on the 17th Street side. Look for your host Robert and a large group of friendly people with name tag stickers, which we'll hand out. If you arrive late just catch up via the posted itinerary.

Icebreaker Introductions: We should have a good-sized group and so instead of everyone introducing themselves to the group we will get to know each other by distributing blank stickers and colored markers and we’ll ask everyone to write down on their sticker: 1). first name. 2). favorite food. 3). dream vacation. Example: “Michele - Strawberries - Kenya” or “Robert - Chocolate - Tokyo”.

Meeting Time/Name Tags/Socializing = 6:15-6:30 pm
Departure = 6:30 pm
Sunset = 6:52 pm
Moonrise 7:40 pm
Ending Time = 9:00 pm (approximate)

World War II Memorial (starting point)
Tidal Basin
Jefferson Memorial (restroom break)
Franklin Delano Roosevelt Memorial (restroom break)
Martin Luther King Jr. Memorial
Korean War Veterans Memorial
Lincoln Memorial (restroom break)
Vietnam Veterans Memorial
World War II Memorial (ending point)

Ending Point: The National World War II Memorial. However, from there many from our group will walk back to the Smithsonian Metro for those interested. Also, people are free to leave whenever they like if they don't want to finish the entire walk with us.
