Aug History Bk Club - History Books on Film

Details
We're doing something a little different in August. Between now and the meeting, pick a video of a history-related book that has been produced as a movie for theaters or television. It can be a single film or a series for the BBC, PBS or HBO. The only requirement is a historical element - an important event, a biography of a historic person, that sort of thing. Then on August 12, be prepared to present a short summary of the film and why this topic interested you, and/or the significance of the topic.
No pressure! If you prefer to listen to the discussions, that's fine. You're welcome, as always.
Just to make it a little more interesting to everyone, when you have decided on your film, please let us know in the comments section what you plan to discuss. That way, we can watch it too, and join in the discussion.
Please remember that this is, first and foremost, a book club. Like any local book club, the point is discussion about a shared experience - in this case, watching a video based on a history-related book! It is not a lecture series. So as usual, pick a film, watch it, then join us for another interesting discussion. We continue to meet virtually because so many of our members now join us from locations outside the D.C area.
And don't forget to post what you plan to discuss in the comments section.
A zoom link to the discussion will be sent a day before the meeting.
