Part 3 of our 3-part Lean 101 summer series

As a wise person once said, "Pivots are more than just changing your mind." In the Lean Startup methodology, we sometimes mistake the two because we're heads-down trying to solve a problem, and we don't recognize when we're responding to a gut feeling (rather than the evidence we've gathered). Our goal with this meetup is simple: we're going to help you see how to tell the difference between the two, and hear from experts who can share when, how, and why they pivot during Lean experiments.

Agenda

• 6:45 pm - Doors open for food, drink & socializing

• 7:15 pm - Intros

• 7:20 pm - Speaker + Q&A

• 8:00 pm - UnConference (2-3 rounds)

• 9:30 pm - more socializing and wrap up

About Our Speakers

Initially conceived for a college startup competition, Jack, Jesse, and Ben have been evolving the Swizzler concept for gourmet, grass-fed hot dogs for nearly two years. In that time, they've gone from grillin' around their campus in Winston-Salem, NC, to a DC food truck ranked in the top 101 nationwide (http://www.thedailymeal.com/101-best-food-trucks-america?page=1), to now being on the verge of establishing a Brick & Mortar concept in the District. Along the way, they've continued to tweak everything from their menu, to their customer segments, locations, and more.

About the UnConference

Following the presentation from our speaker, we’ll break into smaller groups with Lean Startup Circle members (a.k.a. you!) to share knowledge and learn in open spaces. Sessions can fit within any of the following formats:

• Standard presentation + Q&A

• Moderated discussion or panel

• Open brainstorming on a problem or new approach

• You choose!

Anyone can propose a session to:

• Share their knowledge

• Ask for help

• Discuss a topic
