DC Pro Bono Week 2018: Coding Justice
Coding Justice is a DC Pro Bono Week collaboration event between social-justice nonprofits and the tech world, in partnership with Washington Council of Lawyers, DC Legal Hackers, The Public Defender Service for the District of Columbia, and Dechert LLP. Members of the legal community will join tech-savvy volunteers to explore tech solutions to legal problems. This year, we’ll discuss the issues surrounding re-entry and then consider how to solve them using technology. We are looking for volunteers from both the legal community and the tech world: lawyers from all sectors are welcome. In particular, we’re looking for tech volunteers with computer science or civic hacking experience in the following areas: Design thinking Data management Technology solutions Technical design A light dinner will be provided to nourish our creative problem solving. Participants in the event will help brainstorm and prototype the content design of information meant to help formerly incarcerated people transition back into their communities. What we're about

Technology bustles ahead, but our legal tools and tech policy hardly reflect this. What gives? This monthly meetup challenges Legal Hackers to find creative solutions to some of the most interesting issues at the intersection of law and technology. Join us ( as we tackle tough problems and create tangible solutions at a variety of interactive events, including: discussions, keynotes, demos, workshops (yes, coding), and quarterly hackathons. Our meetings will be aimed at creating proposed resolutions on the spot, so bring your brains and your portable computing devices!
