MORE Tuesday Night Women's Ride @ Wakefield
Tuesday Night Women's Ride at Wakefield This is the Women's night ride at Wakefield Park in Annandale, Virginia, adjacent to the intersection of Braddock Road and the Capitol Beltway. Brought to you by MORE, The Single Speed Outlaws, The Bicycle Escape, and Team XXL. Ride Leaders Kathy, Jo, and Simona Location The ride starts near in the last parking lot of the Audrey Moore Recreation Center. Turn right in the parking lot and then park in the second aisle (across from where the old recycling bins used to be). Schedule Meet up in last parking lot (Audrey Moore Rec Center) in the back (where the old recycle bins were) at 6:30pm All riders joining this ride will need to sign the standard MORE waiver form. Wheels down at 6:45pm Ride will be about 1 to 1.5 hours, depending on the group. The ride leader(s) will start promptly. Bring: Trail-ready mountain bike, helmet, tube, and water. Optional: Tools, gloves, snacks, and lights. Pace Casual to moderate pace depending on the group. This is a no-drop ride. (A drop is leaving someone behind who is slower than the group. We won't do that - but if you feel like you are not able to keep up, please let the ride leader know.) All riding abilities are welcome, but it is recommended riders have a few off-road rides under their belts first. Terrain Wakefield is generally considered easier to intermediate by most riders. There are a few small stream crossings and some log obstacles. Riders should use good judgment and dismount when in doubt. The ride will typically consist of a mix of single track, fire roads, and other trail sections in the park. Directions Weather To protect and maintain the trails, the ride will be canceled if weather conditions warrant. Information on closures will be posted here and/or in the forum. Check the MORE Forum for status updates.

What we're about

We are a community of mountain bikers from all over the Washington DC Metro area, Northern Virginia, and Southern and Eastern Maryland. Skills of our members range from those familiar with basic braking and shifting to expert racers.

We are the place to quickly find folks for last minute rides, calendar of races, and other mountain biking events in the area, skills clinics, maintenance clinics, and hopefully happy hours (our personal favorite :) For those new to mountain biking (or just interested in trying it out) we hope to have beginner rides and clinics to help you really start to enjoy all the great biking the Mid-Atlantic has to offer. For intermediate and advanced riders, we hope to provide lot's of opportunities to ride and explore all the great parks we have nearby.

If you have an idea for an event or ride, please email us and we'll add that. Meetup has made some great changes in the last few months to allow our members to suggest events, so we are hoping for so great event ideas from you too!
