Information: Wed. Nights thru April 1st are casual rides. Tuesday nights thru April 1st will have 2 rides; a Fast Ride and a ladies only "Girly ride". See below for descriptions of fast. If fast or "girly" isn't for you check out the Wed. night casual ride.
I might not be able to keep up with latest news/cancellations due to trail conditions on the Meetup site so please refer to MORE (www.more-mtb.org) to register and check for the latest news.
Requirements:
We are in the park after hours with special permission. Each ride must have a leader, a sweep and a person with a current first aid certification or the ride will not commence ( see RSVP list on MORE calendar entry ). You will need lights, a helmet, a working bike, weather appropriate clothing and a good attitude.
Use the RSVP tool on the MORE calendar entry!!! Please log in to the forum, surf to the date of the ride you wish to ride, use the RSVP tool near the bottom of the entry and when RSVP'ing please indicate which ride you plan to do and if you are qualified to lead, sweep or provide first aid. for example: SSOFT Intermediate Ride, Sweep & First Aid.
Tuesdays have the Girlie Ride or the Fast Ride.
Wednesdays have the SSOFT co-ed Casual Ride or the SSOFT Intermediate Ride.
Pace and difficulty will vary depending on who shows up but normally it's Moderate'ish'ly paced in Intermediate / Advanced terrain as defined here.
Quotes from ride leaders, to describe what you should expect: "Fresh leaves are falling, essentially "hiding" those rocks, roots, and small logs. If the leaves are a little damp, it's like ice when you tap your brakes around a corner. This is exponentially more challenging at night when your light is casting shadows and depth perception is a little skewed. Never mind the snow/ice rides! The Casual ride is a casual to moderate paced ride in moderate to technical terrain, requiring skills in navigating obstacles and the ability to consistently ride for more than 2 hours. The Intermediate ride is a bit faster and will ride for 3 plus hours if given the chance. The Fast ride is just what it says, bring it. None of these rides are suitable for beginners. Cedarville, Rosaryville, Wakefield and Schaeffer all are better options for beginner night riders."
Wed nights are casually paced but on intermediate terrain.
If you have any questions that you can't find info to feel free to shoot me a message.
Thanks,
Tony
