Fairland Tuesday Night Ride

Details

Bring lights! Both loops are night rides now. Bring something bright enough for you to see, 1000lm or so will do. If you want more info on lights click HERE (https://www.meetup.com/dcmountainbiking/messages/boards/thread/37776092). Colder temperatures will cause numbing of toes and fingers, shoe covers (booties) are advisable, and layers of clothing.

Contact me for delays, I want to start on time but can wait a few mins

240-421-425FOUR

For directions: We will be parked behind The Gardens Ice House, look for a pepper white mini cooper. The map will show the wrong place, but as soon as you get into the driveway, the ice house will be on your left.

Please comment on what time you will be attending when you RSVP

About Fairland: 95% non-technical ride with few major climbs and no mandatory obstacles (they all have ride-arounds). Promise, no rocks. None! (there is one section of busted-up concrete, but it's not rocks, and it's only 10-15 feet long). Anyway, there are a couple good places to stop and practice log-overs, and balance on the boardwalks, and some good flow trails.

Video of night riding (This is the 5pm moderate/fast pace)

First loop (About 5 Miles) Moderate/Fast:

This pace is intended for the experience rider who wishes to push themselves above the average pace. These rides will seldom have regular breaks and require a significant level of fitness and bike handling skills in order to stay with the group.

2nd Loop will be beginner friendly and as much as 8-9 miles total, depending on group, pace will be Casual/Moderate (but it depends on how many beginners we have attending):

While still laid back and “casual” in nature this pace will have fewer stops/breaks along the way. Often times stronger riders will lead and attend a casual/moderate pace if the aim of the ride is more social in nature. Riders with an average level of fitness and at least a few months of regular riding under their belts should do fine on this level of ride.

Beginners, 2nd loop shooting for wheels rolling at 6:00pm.

Please keep in mind that this loop is to encourage beginners to join us, patience is needed from the faster riders, if you wish for a fast competitive pace, this is not the ride for you.

What to bring:

Lights! Plenty of water, helmet (no helmet no ride), your mtb of course!, multi-tool (although you can borrow mine), patch kit, extra tube (make sure it has the same valve you need for your wheel), a snack if you're doing both loops.

Note: Please read the document "Meetup Ride Waiver" (found under menu: More > Files > Meetup Ride Waiver) before attending this event. Mountain biking is an inherently dangerous sport, and by attending this ride, you acknowledge and have read, agree to and fully understand the aforementioned waiver.
