SportTechie and The Smithsonian - Innovative Lives

Details

We are very excited to announce a new collaboration between SportTechie and the Smithsonian’s Lemelson Center for the Study of Invention and Innovation (http://invention.si.edu/). Together our organizations look forward to exploring the dynamic intersection of sports, technology, invention, and history.

We strongly encourage the SportTechie DC community to join us on September 7 at the National Museum of American History for “Innovative Lives: Rodney Mullen and Steven Sebring 360”. Attendees will examine how Rodney Mullen, one of the most influential skateboarders in history, creates and performs innovative and technologically-advanced skateboarding tricks, and how photographer and filmmaker, Steven Sebring, documented Mullen’s innovations in his visually stunning film, Liminal. The event will feature a special screening of the film, followed by a Q&A session with Mullen and Sebring.

Attendance is free, but you must register via the Eventbrite link below to attend.

This event is the first of many projects that SportTechie will execute with the Smithsonian’s Lemelson Center as the organization embarks on its multi-year research initiative to explore the impact of invention, technology, and innovation in sport.
