SCHEDULE
5.45 pm Open doors, food served
6.15 pm Intro and three talks
Idea to MVP to Product: A StartUp Journey: Susan Brander
(Pitched at Technologists)
Got an Idea? Can code? You too can be a startup founder!
In this talk, Susan shares how Kaleida got its MVP to market quickly using experimentation and frameworks.
With limited time and even less budget, startup founders need to validate their ideas with real customers, without sinking months into prototyping.
We'll cover the choices, trade-offs and lessons learned along the way to help us get to market with something that could be built upon, not thrown away.
Take away from this session the belief that you can get an idea in front of customers without lengthy expensive builds and high running costs, as well as actionable first steps to get you started.
Keep it simple, be pragmatic, and change the world.
Athens to Algorithms: Zeno as a Tech Leader: Andrew Murphy
(Pitched at anyone who cares about technology and ancient Greece)
"In the lightning-fast world of technology, leadership calls for more than just technical prowess. It requires a balance of mind, a mastery of self, and a distinctive approach that can navigate the rollercoaster of innovation and disruption. So, where might we find this kind of wisdom? Would you believe it if we told you that the secret lies in the ancient philosophy of Stoicism, born in the heart of Athens over two thousand years ago?
I invite you to join me on a fascinating journey from the cradle of Stoicism in ancient Greece to the buzzing industry of technology. This isn't your average talk on leadership; it's an exploration of the hidden power that fuels resilience, emotional intelligence, and strategic thinking in our tech leaders today. We're about to unlock an age-old secret and unveil the unseen force that has been driving successful tech leaders around the globe.
Ready to decode the mysterious formula for impactful leadership? Come, and be part of this enlightening journey. The secrets from ancient wisdom await you."
5 Mistakes of a Software Engineer: Eddy Nguyen
(Pitched at software developers generally)
It takes a lot more than just technical skills to work in a team as a Software Engineer. This is the realisation I have after delivering and leading many projects. Let's explore the common pitfalls and avoid making mistakes that could hinder your productivity and effectiveness.
7.30 pm Break for networking and drinks
8.00 pm Two more talks
How fast can we go if we start using AI to speed us up?: Lloyd McKie
(Pitched at software developers generally)
We've seen LLM being used for various applications. What if we started adopting these tools?
Scarred from Hamlet to speaking in Tech: Amelia Davis
(Pitched at anyone in tech who struggles with their soft skills)
Coming from a non-tech industry to Tech, as a relative newcomer, Amelia has a different take on public speaking, how to engage with people and how to come off as confident when doing so, even when you might not be! After attending a training workshop on communication, she is now ready to move past previous scars caused by Shakespeare and help you become a more confident communicator within the tech sphere.
