Hands-on: Building Better Domain Models with Jeff Patton's User Story Mapping!

Details

Hello everybody!

Many people, among them some who participated in our EventStorming workshop in 2018, approached us after recent meetups and said: well, it was great and as always we did have really good discussions, BUT :-) we would like to actually DO something again, you know ... hands-on! :-)

Therefore, in this meetup two members of our organiser's team - Daniel Sack and Martin Schimak - will not only share and discuss ideas about the relationship of Jeff Patton's "User Story Mapping" and Domain-Driven Design - but we will also try to combine these methods, together!

Because: we believe User Story Mapping can help a lot to build up an ubiquitous language and foster a healthy team's habit to care about language from early project stages on. But not only that: story mapping also helps to identify bounded contexts and validate domain models in early stages but in particular also on a more regular, iterative basis.

Therefore Daniel and Martin

  1. will give you an introduction to User Story Mapping, discuss why it is used in agile communities and how they see it relates to ubiquitous language, bounded context, and domain modeling in general.

  2. want to practice building User Story Maps with you, explore how to improve the story map using the idea of ubiquitous language and try to understand the impact on bounded contexts and domain models.

We are looking forward to meeting and networking! We therefore also plan to have a break ... AND we still want to have discussion time! It'll be a bit of a challenge and we'll maybe want to assign a timekeeper!

Many thanks to TechTalk for hosting the community. You are fabulous!-)
We meet in the brand new and larger meeting room on the 16th floor!

Andy, Angela, Daniel, Fabian, Gottfried, Hans, Martin and Paul.
