Wardley Mapping with Zsófia Herendi

Hello everyone,

for our April meetup, we are very excited to have Zsófia Herendi from Budapest as a guest again. Many of you will remember that Zsófia, a well-known speaker in the DDD community, already visited us in 2020 for a workshop on the Business Model Canvas. This time, she will prepare an experimental hands-on session on Wardley Mapping:

Simon Wardley says, the issue is almost always around situational awareness, which is a subject we are not really good at. But you inevitably need to become good at it if you contribute in putting together any strategy at any levels. You can only start talking about where things should be if you know where they currently are, right? Wardley-mapping is a great technique to facilitate these conversations. You can use it when it comes to strategy, or for discussions on where you want to get with your product in a short and in a longer term. A Wardley-map helps us have the proper conversations on making good decisions about where to go next. Let's experiment together on how to read and write a Wardley-map and how it can be used for software, business projects, organizational structure, or even personal introspection.

We may expect an approximately two hours workshop including

• Warm-up and intro to Wardley-maps
• Defining scope
• Users and their needs
• Value chain and mapping out current situation
• Evolution

The workshop will be held in English and it won't be streamed.

About our guest

Zsófia is a product manager who has spent more than 17 years bringing developers and business people together, 11+ years working on different teams in an agile environment. She is a skilled modeler with a passion for diagramming and an addiction to optimizing flow. She has been an ambassador of Domain-Driven Design (DDD) for more than 5 years now, which also makes it essential for her to be able to develop a shared understanding.
