SYNOPSIS: Ever wondered what it takes to "pwn" (i.e. "own") a start up? This presentation will examine how and why to think about cybersecurity in the context of a startup. It will start with a brief discussion of cyber risk and then we will walk through some common differences in risk between traditional companies and startups - particularly differences in how common attacks play out when you have on-site infrastructure vs. going all cloud.

8:10 p.m. - Session 2 - "The Top 5 Things a Security Researcher Looks for when Attacking an App" by Robert Kugler (https://s3cur3.it/). Robert is an information security and human rights enthusiast. Now he's working as a penetration tester and data protection consultant at a German ISP, and in his spare time he finds vulnerabilities on the Cobalt.io platform.

SYNOPSIS: The best defense against attacks is to develop secure applications. In this talk Robert will delve into how he views an application, and explore the 5 most common threats that he has come across. It’s important for developers to be aware of how application attacks work and use this knowledge to build secure software right into their applications.
