JavaScript user group "X-Mas Special" with focus on Docker and image processing

Long time no meetup! That’s what we want to change before 2017 is over. As a christmas special, our next meetup will be on Tuesday, December 12th at the Sevenval office – next to Cologne Cathedral and Cologne main station.

[DE] Has Docker already reached the Plateau of Productivity? For many developers in the JavaScript community, Docker is on the radar. But using it productively still has some hurdles both in fulfilling the promise of a lightweight, cross-platform local development platform and in making operations more accessible to developers. This talk will address issues from both categories: How to use docker-compose as an efficient Docker based local development environment, in combination with node, npm/yarn and webpack; how to test production builds locally; how to build small, alpine-based containers for JS applications; and finally, an overview and examples for deploying those containers in production

Image Generation in JavaScript by and with Markus Over

In this talk we'll dive into the fascinating world of image generation and manipulation in JavaScript using the Canvas API. Have you ever wondered how to create an interactive Paint application for your website? How to dynamically render function graphs? How to edit your private photos not with complicated software, but with code? Or even how to render high resolution fractals in JavaScript? Maybe not, but you probably should! Luckily these are all things we'll cover, so brace yourselves for an intense mix of code, formulas and, if things go well, quite a bit of eye candy.
