Live from Texas: Kim Martin on optimizing city transportation flows

Details
Welcome back everybody! We are very happy to announce that we managed to sign up an exciting speaker to restart our Meetup after the summer break. Kim Martin is Director of Infrastructure Data Science and Engineering at Netflix (https://www.linkedin.com/in/kimberlynicolemartin/), but she has a multitude of interests, talents and expertise within and beyond this role making it difficult to settle for a topic. We narrowed it down to either streaming media (and Netflix) as one option or optimizing city transportation flows as the other one, and taking into account the local context here in Regensburg and the fact that you have presumably all had enough of streaming media and want to get out again we went for the second option.
Speaking of getting out, the plan is to have another online Meetup this time ... followed by drinks in the local area ... how does that sound?
Bring along your questions as Kim will be happy to answer them all!
Come and join us (again)!

Title:
A shallow dive into using AI to optimize the transport of humans in large cities
Abstract:
Urban environments have the unique challenge of rapidly transporting masses of people around grid based and non grid based systems. By leveraging AI, we can help those agencies to improve their efficiency and understand their ridership better. We’ll walk through some elements of the problem space and solution space in hopes of understanding the challenge of transport agencies.
