This time we will have 2 different talks:

What is the Rust programming language? What distinguishes it from other languages? And why you should ditch C/C++ in its favor.

This gentle introduction to Rust aims to showcase its unique features, ecosystem and how it fulfills its promises. Null pointer exception? Dangling pointers? Race conditions? If one of these has ever messed up your day, this talk is for you!

About the speaker:
Cristian is Research Assistant and Infrastructure Specialist at the Institut for Internet-Security. Whenever he isn't occupied with writing his own bootloader or compiling Gentoo, he likes to practice doing sailor knots and talking about guitar pickups.

About the speakers:
Christian Douven is a Software Developer at Zalando. His focus is the development
of distributed applications. Christian finally arrived at Rust after a journey of
creating applications in Java, C#, F# and Scala.

I'm a Software Developer at Zalando. I develop web applications and services with C#, JavaScript and TypeScript (incl. Node.js) since 12 years. Finally, I started with Rust 1.5 years ago.
