Heck yeah! How amazing does it sounds to you? :D
Maybe you've never heard about this crazy event before, but I ensure you it's an official competition, attracted 12 international teams last year. Estonia’s national love affair with the sauna is going back many centuries and no matters if you're Estonian or a foreigner you should be able to appreciate this bizarre competition!
Basically rules are really simple:
• Participants are split in team of 4 people
• Each team is given a map indicating how to get to hidden saunas all around the Otepää city
• Teams have to find and visit as many sauna as they can / want as fast as they can. But they also can just enjoy their favorite sauna all day long
• Teams have to stay at least 3 minutes in each sauna in order the visit to be validated by the jury
• Bonus points can be earned for dips in ice holes and cold water pools and use of other attractions provided by the sauna owners
However, just in case if someone's wondering, it's just a fun, strange and curious event, so there wont be real sport or running. No need to be a accomplished sportsmen to participate to this event. The point is to just enjoy as many saunas as we can :D
Unfortunately, this year participation is chargeable and costs 60€ / team or 15€ / person. Each team have to buy tickets online before the event and there is only 20 tickets (20 teams) left.
I guess if we can find 16 - 20 people in this group, really interested by this unusual competition, we can make 4/5 teams and it also would be a good number to organize the trip to Otepää. A car is required to be able to go from one sauna to another. If we are enough, we can rent 2 or 3, 8 seater cars for 10€ / person. The total price of this meetup should then be around 25€ / person, travel, tradition and fun included :)
