Come and get to know our Diamond Way Center, the Tibetan Buddhist methods of the Karma Kagyu Lineage, and participate in a guided meditation.

No prior experience is necessary. Just come as you are and enjoy!

Schedule:
6.30 pm Doors open
7.00 pm Introduction and guided meditation
8.00 pm Dinner

The event itself is free, but if you'd like to participate in the dinner afterwards, we recommend a $10 donation. All proceeds go towards maintaining our meditation center.

The meditation generally lasts ~20 minutes, and it is accessible and beneficial to people of all experience levels. You are welcome to stay afterwards to ask any questions or talk further.

We will have meditation cushions available, but you are welcome to bring your own if you like. Chairs can also be made available for those who need.

What Is Buddhist Meditation?

In Buddhism, meditation means "effortlessly remaining in what is". This state may be brought about by calming and holding the mind, when compassion and wisdom are realized, or by working with our bodies' energy channels and meditating on light forms of Buddhas.

About Us

Diamond Way Buddhist Center Chicago belongs to an international non-profit network of over 600 lay Diamond Way Buddhist centers of the Karma Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism, founded by Lama Ole Nydahl and under the spiritual guidance of H.H. the 17th Gyalwa Karmapa, Trinley Thaye Dorje.

Diamond Way Buddhism offers practical and effective methods to realize mind’s inherent richness for the benefit of all. With an accessible and modern style, it works with people’s confidence and desire, using every situation in life to develop fearlessness and joy. We always present a basic introduction for newcomers, and the meditations are guided in English.
