Dangerous Optimizations
Details
For our February meetup we welcome Robert Seacord who will talk about "dangerous optimizations". The talk will be livestreamed to our YouTube channel (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tj3iYKcHY3Q) and afterwards we will have a Q&A session on our Jitsi server (https://meet.osna.social/osnacpp).
Robert is Standardization Lead at Woven by Toyota and convenes the ISO/IEC C Standards Committee. He is the author of seven books, including Effective C, The CERT C Coding Standard, and Secure Coding in C and C++.
Abstract: Increasingly, compilers are using undefined behavior of C and C++ programming languages to improve optimization, but such optimization increases the probability of software defects and vulnerabilities.
