Design is the human’s ability to shape the world around them. But: what for, exactly? The “better”? To gain control and measure impact, tech, among others, introduced goals, metrics and key performance indicators (KPI’s). But do these metrics really reflect the broader impact and value added of a product?

We’ll dive into this world of measuring and take a look at real-world examples, and discuss the potential harms of tracking the wrong things. We aim to show how designers can take an active role in deciding on how their work is being measured. We'll think about alternatives for defining a “successful” product, including ethical aspects and broad societal impact. Oh, and there’ll be a workshop, too.
