Sustainable software in research and practice - Hybrid Event
Details
As a starter in 2023 we will meetup with Green Software Development and join their hybrid event:
The challenge of putting research about sustainable software into practice.
I expect less code than usual in this event, but I am sure the topic will become more important for our lifes in future as well.
Agenda:
- 6:30 PM | Doors open to grab some snacks & drinks
- 7:00 PM | Start of Hybrid Meetup
- 7:00 PM | Welcome & Intro
- 7:15 PM | "The challenge of putting software sustainability research into practice", Sandro Kreten, CTO at capacura
- Afterwards: Open space for networking with all attendees
In difference to "just consume", we will now participate live with video & audio from our FN-location and interact directly with the speaker and the group in Munich. So be prepared to consume food & knowledge and to ask questions & discuss the topic with all other participants as well.
We're looking forward to meetup with you -> your RSVP, but more important your voice counts!
In case you cannot join us on-site, feel free to RSVP yourself remotely via Green Software Development Event.
Talk: The challenge of putting software sustainability research into practice
Abstract:
The current response to the topic of green software development is very pleasing. However, this was not always the case. Misunderstandings often arise, especially between practice and research. Does this really have to be the case? As a former researcher, I have changed my perspective to that of a developer and will use examples and one or two anecdotes to show which misunderstandings occur and how we can counteract them in order to work together towards the same goal.
Bio:
As CTO of impact investor capacura, Sandro Kreten supports impact startups in sustainable software development. Sandros work benefits from his scientific background on sustainable software design: He is part of the research group around the blue angel for resource- and energy-efficient software and received his PhD on "Modeling and implementation of methods for energy-efficient use of container technologies" at Environmental Campus Birkenfeld.
