The Maple Syrup festival season is almost wrapping up. Let’s welcome spring with a relaxed afternoon at Kortright Centre for Conservation and enjoy the maple syrup festival together! We’ll meet around 12:15 and start at 12:30 pm to avoid the busy morning crowds and ease into a cozy day in the sugar bush. We can grab lunch there (fresh pancakes with maple syrup 🥞🍁 always a good idea), then explore the scenic forest trails, watch maple syrup demonstrations, and enjoy the crisp spring air. Expect a laid-back vibe, beautiful nature, sweet treats, and great company — perfect for a fun adults day out. We're going to watch the Beaches Easter Parade ! We will take a nice stroll along Queen street and will stop in a chocolate store filled with Easter goodies before the parade starts at 2pm. We'll be joined by my other meetup group, Walk and Roll. Then we will walk along Queen street to see the parade filled with bands, dancers, floats and easter bunnies. Afterwards you can go to the beach. Queen street will be closed between Woodbine east to Neville Park from approximately 2 - 4pm. For those who are driving it is best to park near Woodbine and Queen. For those taking the TTC, go to Woodbine station and take the 92 Woodbine bus south and get off at Queen street. The firestation is very close to the bus stop. Or take the Queen car to Kingston road then walk a few blocks to the firestation. The firestation is at the corner of Queen east and Woodbine. It's the tall building with the bell tower. This group is for badminton enthusiasts who are passionate about exploring the connections between metabolism, energy, and exercise. We are welcome beginner plus, intermediate and advance level players looking to improve your skill or a seasoned player seeking to optimize your performance on the court, this group is for you! Join us for friendly games. This badminton session is a weekly event and it is followed with dinner together but it is optional. Since we have 3 courts and allowed the maximum of 24 players so that everyone signs up for this event will be placed on waiting list FIRST then will be moved to the joining list on WEDNESDAY MORNING. Join us for a tour of Brothers Drake Meadery in Grandview, hosted by the owner Oron Benary. He will explain the mead-making process and offer us generous samples of their fine meads. Mead is basically wine that is made from honey instead of grapes. There are many different flavors that range from dry, semi-dry, semi-sweet, to sweet. They are best known for their Apple Pie Mead. Oron has offered us a special price of 5.00 each person for the tour and tasting, which is normally 25.00 per person. I've taken the tour several times, and it's always enlightening and fun. Rebecca will bring a tea that will pair well with the mead for a tea tasting afterwards. Park anywhere around the building. If you can't make the hike, we should be there by noon. **How to find our starting point in Big Meadows:** If you are new to Highbanks, the Big Meadows picnic area is 1.5 miles into the park just after you turn into the park off of U.S. Route 23. That is, after you enter the park, drive a mile and a half into the park. You will come to a crosswalk with a yield sign in the middle of it (this is not to be confused with the first such crosswalk you come to just in front of the Nature Center, which you arrive at maybe a quarter of a mile into the park). Just after this second crosswalk, make a left. Then make another almost immediate left into the parking lot on your left. There you will see the jungle gym and the kiddie zip line to your left. I will be just in front of the restrooms just a bit further down from the jungle gym and picnic shelter; the restroom building will also be on your left.

The Forge does have a full bar and kitchen. There is no cover charge but they do request all attendees to purchase a minimum of ~$20 per person. Soft drink refills are $1 each. Please support our hosts so we can continue to provide great events for the group! The Forge has a large library of games available for us to enjoy. Hosts and regulars will also provide numerous popular games but please bring any games you would like to teach and/or play. Doors open at 6, and we expect gaming to be rolling by around 630.
