“Reconnecting to sacred nature” is a retreat running at **Hilfield Friary on Friday 24th** (from 12pm) **to Sunday 26th (3pm) April 2026** geared at those of different spiritual traditions and none enquiring into the sacredness of nature in the midst of the ecological crisis. The retreat has five aims: * To help participants develop a deeper connection to and love for the beauty, awe and sacredness of nature. * To honestly face the environmental crisis with hope, courage and a sense of personal agency. * Draw on different world spiritual traditions to inspire, challenge and guide our response. * Become part of a wider movement for positive, regenerative change in our society * Learn to know, honour and protect mother earth, allowing all life to flourish. The retreat will immerse participants in the beauty of creation in the Dorset countryside – slowing us down to nature's pace. Join us for a unique, small gathering of just 12 people for a 90 minute experience in a tea room with a tea ceremony - meditative and beautiful ritual inspired by Tao and Zen. Sitting on the cushions on the floor we will slowly drink earthy tea, allowing the ceremonial drink to take us to the dimension of it's profound energy, and through the delicate sensory stimulation, we will try to explore it's ephemeral presence and a perception of ourselves. Brought to Japan by Buddhist monks, the process of preparing, brewing, and serving tea was developed and practiced to perfection. Just like martial arts, the repetition of the ritual is said to **bring mindfulness,** **harmony, and peace**. Join us at Mayfield Tennis Club for a fun and friendly morning of doubles tennis! All ages and most playing standards are welcome, just ensure that you’re above beginner standard and have played doubles or singles before. We play on our outdoor astroturf courts and you’ll enjoy your game within our relaxed and social atmosphere. Coming on your own? perfect, most people do, we make sure everyone gets paired up in a no stress skill level and you will be rallying and laughing with new friends by the end of the first set. After tennis, you are more than welcome to stay for a drink and a chat in our clubhouse and bar! It’s a great way to meet your fellow tennis players, an opportunity to play regularly and become a part of our wonderful diverse community. We'll start our walk in Petersfield and head north to follow part of the 34 km (21 mile) Hangers Way - a long distance path less travelled within an area of outstanding natural beauty. The countryside around here is unspoilt and forlorn, and we'll meet only a few locals out for a walk with their dogs. In our first hour, we will be rewarded with fantastic views from Shoulder of Mutton Hill as we continue through forested slopes and over open fields towards Liss and then onto Liphook via a nice lunchtime pub stop (for drinks only). After Liss, we will walk down Shipwrights Way to Longmore and Weavers Down, an army managed access land which is eerily remote and wild with a range of different flora, shrubs and trees. We will then walk on the Sussex Border Path and continue to Liphook, where we will reward ourselves with a pub stop.
