Das Security Sommerfest - best of 10 Jahre KAEMI
Das Security Sommerfest - best of 10 Jahre KAEMI
**The 2026 IT Security Summer Festival in Berlin:** **Cyberthreads Insights, Expert Presentations & Networking BBQ** **On June 25**, our long-standing and trusted partner **KAEMI** will host its **Security Summer Festival**. At the same time, we’ll be raising a toast to **KAEMI’s 10th anniversary**! This is a special milestone and a great opportunity to spend an exciting day together with customers, partners, friends, and colleagues. The speakers will offer a variety of perspectives: from a customer case study featuring insights from **Cloudflare** and **Illumio**, to a keynote on digital sovereignty in challenging times. It’s all very exciting! Since great events don’t end with the last slide, the festivities continue in the courtyard starting at 4 p.m.: with a **networking BBQ**, homemade pizza, cold drinks, a gaming corner, **live music**, and - most importantly - time for conversations that often get overlooked in our busy daily lives. **Public viewing of the World Cup match starts at 10 p.m.** A few spots are still available. If you’d like to join, please feel free to register and connect in the Berlin Networking Security Community. **More details & registration here: [https://kaemi.online/sommerfest](https://kaemi.online/sommerfest)**

Rust Berlin Talks: The next generation
**Rust Berlin Talks** is back for another evening of talks, shared ideas, and networking. Join us to learn, share, ask, and connect. If you work with Rust professionally, use it in side projects, contribute to open source, or are simply curious to learn more, you are very welcome. **Agenda** * Doors open: 18:30 * Start: 19:00 * Talks: * **RICO8: A new fun way to learn & master Rust** New to Rust and looking for a fun way to learn? Or are you already familiar with all the essentials and lacking the motivation to master the rest? Or perhaps you're already pretty fluent in Rust but never got a chance to code for constrained environments while were always curious about that? If you answered "yes" to any of these questions, you're in luck! In this talk, I'll introduce a new project, that makes Rust programming a lot of fun, especially if you're fascinated by pixel art and/or retrogaming. * **Reimagining the terminal with Rust** The terminal has evolved far beyond plain text interfaces. In this talk, we'll explore how Rust is pushing the boundaries of what's possible in terminal applications. * Open mic / lightning talks * Networking **Speakers** 1. [Zeeshan Ali Khan](https://github.com/zeenix): Free Software dev, Ecomodernist, into Rust, flying, and EVs. Maintainer of zbus. 2. [Orhun Parmaksız](https://github.com/orhun): Open source maintainer. Creator of Ratatui. **Open mic & future talks** We’ll reserve a few short slots for anyone who wants to share something with the group. This can be a quick idea, a project, or an experience. Slides are optional. If you’re interested in giving a longer talk at a future meetup, this is also a good opportunity to connect with the organizers. **Venue & access** Please arrive on time. We will have someone at the entrance to let people in between 18:30 and 19:15. After that, access becomes more difficult as the doors are locked and require manual opening. **Registration** The venue has limited capacity and events typically fill up with a waiting list. If you register and can no longer attend, even at short notice, please un-RSVP so someone else can take your spot. Looking forward to seeing you all!
Designing APIs & Building Contextual Chatbots | Data Engineering Meetup
Designing APIs & Building Contextual Chatbots | Data Engineering Meetup
Two talks. One evening. Plenty of ideas to take home. We’re ready to kick things off for another Berlin Meetup, and are happy to present the speakers of the evening: **[Jens Wriske](https://www.linkedin.com/in/jens-wriske-8b538a397/):** ***"Designing APIs on top of Data Platforms using Databricks"*** Modern data platforms increasingly follow a lakehouse architecture, where data remains owned and governed by domain teams rather than application developers. This session explores how APIs can be designed on top of Azure Databricks to provide access to heterogeneous data sources without duplicating or owning the underlying storage layer. **[Tanuj Jain](https://www.linkedin.com/in/tanuj-jain-10/): *"The Story Behind the Story: "Building a Contextual News Chatbot."*** Most news readers lack the background to fully engage with the stories they encounter. This talk walks through the development of a chatbot embedded in a news article page for a German news publisher, designed to give readers on-demand context about what they're reading. We share the key technical and product decisions made along the way, and what we learned about building an AI feature that sits at the intersection of editorial and user experience. ✧ ✧ ✧ **What to expect:** * Two expert talks and Q&A * Networking opportunities in our great Creator Space * Some snacks & drinks to fuel your thoughts : ) ✧ ✧ ✧ **Timetable:** * 18:30 - Event admission * 18:50 - Welcome & Introduction * 19:00 - Jens Wriske: *"Designing APIs on top of Data Platforms using Databricks"* * 19:30 - 5 minutes break * 19:35 - Tanuj Jain: *"The Story Behind the Story: Building a Contextual News Chatbot"* * 20:05 - Snacks, Drinks & Networking * 21:30 - End ✧ ✧ ✧ More on the **-> [applydata data engineering meetup page](https://applydata.io/data-engineering-meetup/)**. **Our goal is to form a local data-loving community, so join us and let's talk data together!** ✧ ✧ ✧ *At the event, sound, image and video recordings are created and published for documentation purposes as well as for the presentation of the event in publicly accessible media, on websites and blogs and for presentation on social media. Customize the IDE: Building Extensions for Visual Studio Code - Alan Barber
**Important time note:** Please plan on arriving between 5:30 and 6:00 as the elevators lock after 6 and you'll need to message us and we'll need to come get you. The building address is 4450 Bridge Park The entrance is 6620 Mooney St, Suite 400 You will need to scan your ID at the door to get a visitor badge. **Abstract** *Customize the IDE: Building Extensions for Visual Studio Code* Visual Studio Code is one of the most widely used development environments today, and much of its flexibility comes from its extension ecosystem. Extensions allow developers to customize the editor with new features, integrations, and workflow improvements tailored to their needs. In this session, we’ll cover what extensions are and the different types available, including full extensions written in TypeScript or JavaScript, along with lighter-weight extensions such as color themes, language packs, language support, code snippets, and keymaps. We’ll also look at practical reasons a developer might create an extension, from automating repetitive tasks to adding custom tooling. The session includes a hands-on walkthrough of creating a new extension, testing it locally, and understanding the basic project structure. We’ll close with a brief overview of how extensions are packaged and published to the Visual Studio Marketplace and other distribution options. **YouTube Link** TBD

AI in Application Security Panel Discussion
AI in Application Security Panel Discussion
**AI in Application Security Panel Discussion** (note - this will replace the June meeting) Join the OWASP St. Louis Chapter on July 7th for an open panel discussion on how AI is reshaping application security. From AI-assisted code review and automated vulnerability discovery to the new attack surfaces introduced by LLMs and AI agents, this is a conversation that touches everyone in the industry—whether you're a developer, security practitioner, or just trying to keep up with the pace of change.
