Night Owl Write Night
Night Owl Write Night
Join us for a **casual, low-structure, relaxed** 1.5-hour writing meetup designed for writers who want to connect with others in a supportive, no-pressure environment to come and go as you wish, whenever. Whether you're a poet, novelist, blogger, or write in non-natural languages, we welcome every night owl! **What to Expect:** Nothing structured, this is a casual Schelling point for people who happen to write at night. If you are looking for a large group, high-effort, strongly organised event, this is probably not the one for you. If there are new members joining us, we'll start with some introductions, dive into focused writing time on your personal project, and then, optionally, share a short reflection about our writing at the end. **What to Bring:** * A writing project * Something to write with (notebook and pen, laptop, tablet - whatever you prefer) * A curious mind **Finding Us:** Look for the corner table

One of the most common questions we get at HK Sacred Spaces is, "How do you find so many places to visit?" There are many different answers to that question, but certainly one of them is found in my well-worn copy of the locally printed book "Market Towns of the New Territories" by Patrick HASE. This book is published in both English and Chinese and is a treasure trove of information about how the New Territories developed and how that impacts every other part of Hong Kong life. From village towns, local temples, and ancient trails, this book has it all. It's rare to have a chance to hear the author talk about his work, so I encourage all of you to come along and listen to the talk and ask questions. Our friends host this event at the Hong Kong Anthropology Society. It is free of charge.

We begin with a shared reading of thoughtfully chosen picture books, then move into gentle Pilates activities designed to deepen connection with the stories through movement. We then come together to discuss and share our insights. Difficult level: 3 stars Total biking distance: 50 Km We'll rent bikes in a bike shop . 大家樂單車店 元朗鳳攸北街9A號昌威大廈(元朗地鐵c出口直行出天橋搭電梯落最快) 9184 6881 [https://maps.google.com/?cid=3243260742189197608](https://maps.google.com/?cid=3243260742189197608) This is a sightseeing country biking tour that we'll stop to see rivers, farms, villages, old churches and temples. Kam Tin(錦田) and Yuen Long have the biggest farmlands and villages areas in Hong Kong. It's easy to visit these country areas on bicycles on the biking lanes and roads with few cars passing. In the farmland, some country lanes are narrow and winding, so you need to be good in controlling your bike. Most of the roads are flat and well paved. \*You can rent bikes at $50 or bring your own bike. Bring a spared tyre if you bring your own bike. We'll have lunch in a village restaurant. - Wear a helmet and gloves, bring a hat, sun screen and mosquito repellent. if any emergency, please call Benny 92100999 or Terence 54081914. \*For this biking trip, every member joins need to agree to the following: DISCLAIMER By joining the events of “Biking Swimming Camping Fun”, all participants are deemed to have agreed to exonerate the leaders, the organizers and any other participants in the events from any liabilities, claims, including but not limited to liabilities and claims as a result of any injuries or deaths or damages or penalties arising thereof. Shut Up & Write! Kingsdale Shopping Center
Shut Up & Write! Kingsdale Shopping Center
Greetings writers! Come down and join your fellow wordsmiths for one hour of uninterrupted writing time in the upper level of the Market District Supermarket in Upper Arlington. The main entrance of the shopping center opens onto stairs/elevator leading up to the 2nd floor cafe section where we will have a table displaying a sign with the Shut Up & Write logo. Writing is largely a solitary craft. Practicing with others in a community setting may be the thing you need to fire your own routine. We’ll meet on Wednesday evenings, starting the clock at 6:30, following a brief period of introductions. This is solid writing time and all inclusive. Any project is acceptable, be it fiction, non -fiction, work or homework assignment. All is welcome and will remain private to you. The market boasts a Starbucks, a full service bar and various affordable food options. Parking is plentiful, free Wifi is provided as well as outlets for charging your devices, though they are somewhat limited, so plan accordingly. Show up as early as you like, or stay late. This group tends to socialize some, both before and after the alloted time, but this is not mandatory to you. Feel free to come and go as you please and late arrivals are welcome. The cafe may be noisy on occasion so headphones/ earbuds are reccommended as you see fit. Please try to RSVP if possible so that we may grab enough seats for all—the venue can be busy at times. Feel free to message me privately wth any questions and/ or concerns you may have. Happy writing!
Shut Up & Write!™ Easton Town Center
Shut Up & Write!™ Easton Town Center
We'll meet at The Capital One Café, 167 Easton Town Center, Space A-103. This is in the main mall where the Microsoft store used to be, on your left if you're standing at the bottom of the AMC Theater escalator. Join us on Saturday for an hour of uninterrupted wordmaking! • What we'll do Join us for an hour of writing! We’ve discovered that it’s strikingly helpful to write with other writers. See if it’s true for you at 10AM on Saturday mornings. Be it a book, blog, script, essay, dissertation, resume, melody, poem or just plain work stuff, you are invited to write it with us. No one will see what you've written or give you unsolicited advice. Instead of just thinking about writing, come and get some real writing done. SCHEDULE: 10:00 - SESSION 1: quick intros. 10:10 - timer starts: write for 1 hour. 11:10 - chat / take off / keep writing. OPTIONAL SOCIALIZING happens at 11A-11:30ish. Writing is very solitary. Connecting (and sometimes even commiserating) with other writers is a cool thing. BEING LATE IS OKAY: just show up and get settled, then check-in with me after the session. (I’ll be the person with the Shut Up & Write! sign.) If you were on time, please be willing to make room for the friendly latecomer. Happy writing and I look forward to seeing you! • What to bring Whatever you need to be able to write! Bring earbuds/earplugs if you want to block noise or the occasional conversation by other patrons. Electrical outlets are limited, so charge your devices before whenever possible. See you at The Café on Saturday!
