Join us for two technical presentations and a live demo on Apache Drill to celebrate the 1st milestone release for this open source project!

We'll start with snacks/drinks at 6:15pm, then speakers at 7pm.

Our speakers:

Timothy Chen, Microsoft, Distributed Systems Engineer

Tim will discuss his code contributions to the Apache Drill first milestone release. Abstract of his presentation to follow here soon.

Tim Chen is a Microsoft Software Engineer in Seattle working on Halo's Big Data systems. His previous work experience includes PaaS CloudFoundry at VMWare, and he has contributed patches to open source projects including Apache Pig, Hive, etc. He is one of the first community contributors to Apache Drill.

Steven Phillips, MapR Technologies, Engineer

Steve will give an update on the release and explain how Apache Drill enables you to interactively query JSON, Parquet, and other formats with ANSI SQL. Steve plans to provide a live demo of Drill at work.

Steve is a senior software engineer with MapR Technologies based in San Jose. Steve helped engineer the MapR M7 product and now works mainly on Apache Drill.
