Mortality Movie Night: Funeral Home Comedy

Details

Death Cafe host Gail Rubin also hosts a TV series called Mortality Movies as well as Mortality Movie Nights. Watch a film related to end-of-life issues and stick around for discussion afterwards. These Movie Nights started in the living room at Gail's house, and grew to be so popular, they are now held in the chapel at French Funerals & Cremations at 10500 Lomas Blvd. NE, just east of Eubank.

For this Mortality Movie Night on July 22, we will watch the film Just Buried (2007 – PG-13, 1 hr. 34 min.) A young man inherits a nearly bankrupt funeral home from his estranged father and falls in love with the female mortician on staff. It’s a quirky comedy that explains embalming in detail, shows how pacemakers can make a crematorium explode, and looks at the details of running a funeral home. My favorite quote: “I got a funeral home in a town where no one is dying.”

The event is free, popcorn and chocolate will be served! Hope to see you there!
