What we're about

Death Café is an international movement that invites people to gather, enjoy refreshments (cake!), and discuss death- as part of life- in a comfortable and relaxed setting. The objective is to increase awareness of death, normalize the conversation around it -and make the most of LIFE. Each individual "Cafe" is a group discussion with no agenda, themes, or objectives. The facilitators guide the group discussion based on what organically comes up from the curiosity and thoughts of the participants. It is NOT a grief support group or counseling session.

This free event is open to ALL who wish to learn and share more about the inevitable last stage of life. It is hosted by Lourdes and Renae, two nurses passionate about end-of-life and everything around it. You will not be asked to share anything you don't want to- just to simply show up with your open and accepting mind and respect for all in the group.

At a Death Cafe people, often strangers, gather to eat cake, drink tea and discuss death. Death Cafes are held in over 82 countries and there have been over 15,000 Cafes to date since 2011.
Our objective is 'to increase awareness of death with a view to helping people make the most of their (finite) lives'.
A Death Cafe is a group-directed discussion of death- and living!- with no agenda, objectives or themes. It is a discussion group rather than a grief support or counselling session. These are free, not-for-profit community events. The only requirement is to show up with an open and curious mind and respect for all attendees.
