## Nice To Meet You! We're Debate London
Join us and we will teach you how to speak in public, think strategically, and deal with conflict. We will then give you a platform to lead by example in our monthly debates, that are free to attend and open to all, so you can show those in search of a more civil way to examine our differences what it really means to be a great debater.
We provide 2 types of events:
Public Speaking and Debate Training workshops - Instead of inviting guest speakers to sit on our debate panels, we train our members to defend the competing perspectives shaping the debate in their own words and develop the skills that allow our members to tackle any topic and find the arguments for any side.
Public debates - Every 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month we debate issues that divide public opinion, which this year ranged from inducting Ukraine into NATO and deposing Boris Johnson to falling UK birth rates and fake news. Topics are expressed not as a question, but as a proposal that the audience must vote to accept or reject after hearing all the arguments.

Looking at how debates work, when they're most appropriate, and where to start if you are preparing to speak in one for the first time
Join us for a unique debating workshop specifically designed for speakers of English as a second language! (ESL). In a supportive and inclusive environment, you'll develop essential debating and public speaking skills while building confidence in your English language abilities.
For many ESL speakers they know what they want to say but struggle with the process of HOW they want to say it, and for others it can simply be needing support in developing their speed of going from listening to responding to what their colleagues or friends are saying.What you'll learn:

Wether that is leading on the debate competition circuit, judging debates across university & professional levels or running debate training organisations to develop the next generation of debaters our team will give you the skills you need to debate with the best of them.Venue

An introduction to rhetoric and persuasive speaking so you can begin to develop your own personal persuasive speaking style.

In this 4.5 hour hour Masterclass we will be exploring persuasive speaking and the fundamentals of rhetoric.
Persuasion takes many forms but ultimately is a single communicative skill to deliver information effectively and with a motivation to act. In the debate space it's persuading an audience our ideas are the better solution this winning votes. At work it may be that all important discussion about a pay rise or why x product is better for your customer... Don't even get me started about how crucial it is in the argument of what you and your partner should eat for dinner (or who does the dishes.)
The Key Skills You Will Learn:- Ethos (persuading from authority or audience connection)
- Pathos (Persuading using emotion)
- Logos (persuading using logic)
This workshop is for debaters and speakers of all skill ranges and free for all to attend. We will cover a range of rhetorical devices that we as speakers can take to the podium and use to our advantage. each one an additional tool we can use to bring our audience on side.
