3D Modeling in Blender
🕒 1.5 Hours | 💻 Ages 13–Adult | 👥 Max 6 Students
Curious about 3D design? Whether you're into animation, 3D printing, or digital asset creation, this in-depth tutorial will introduce you to Blender—a free, professional-grade software used by creators worldwide.
In this beginner-friendly class, you’ll learn how to navigate Blender’s interface and use its powerful modeling tools to build your own 3D models. We’ll cover techniques for content creation, preparing models for 3D printing, and exporting assets for online platforms like Sketchfab or Gumroad.
What You’ll Learn:- Blender’s layout and navigation tools
- Core modeling techniques: extrusion, modifiers, and object manipulation
- How to export models for 3D printing or digital use
- Tips on organizing and optimizing your projects for sharing or selling
Before Class:
Students are encouraged to download and install Blender to their laptop ahead of time. Please bring a laptop and mouse, or let us know if you’ll need to borrow a makerspace device. - Decatur Makers Open Build NightDecatur Makers, Decatur, GA

We host Open Build Nights on Wednesdays from 7-9 PM, except the first Wednesday of the month (reserved for members-only meetings). During this time, our space is free and open to the public, so come take a tour!
Open Build Night is a great time to bring questions about Decatur Makers, tour our makerspace, and meet others who have the same passion.
If you would like to work on a project, please let us know some details beforehand by registering for the event. Certain tools and pieces of equipment are restricted for use and require the assistance of a trained volunteer. We endeavor to have volunteers available, but it is not always possible to work on or complete all projects.
This is for makers of all ages, skill sets, and interests.

Join our hands-on training session to learn the essentials of 3D printing at Decatur Makers! This class will cover the basics of 3D printing, how to set up and manage prints using 3DPrinterOS, troubleshooting common issues, and best practices to ensure successful prints. By the end, you'll be equipped to confidently operate our 3D printers and manage your prints remotely. Ages: 16+
The class will run from 11am-1pm, with the instructor remaining after to answer questions and help troubleshoot your printing issues.
