Conversation Cafe (Trick or Treat Edition)

You're welcome to dress up in a Halloween costume for this event. Expect some people to be in costume, but it's by no means required.

What if we took over a coffee shop and filled it with friendly people looking to have conversations?

... where you knew for certain you wouldn't be interrupting if you asked to join them at their table. In fact, you would have probably made their day.

Join us as we take over Ada's Technical Books & Cafe to practice socializing without worrying about messing up.

All levels of social skills are welcome. Expect some awkward pauses, running out of things to say and feeling flustered. But also don't be surprised to find yourself in a state of flow, laughing and experiencing moments of unexpected joy from connecting in a conversation.

We'll get things started with a quick warmup, an easy way to start a conversation and an easy way to wrap it up. After that will be free conversation time. You chose whom you'd like to talk to.

When you're done chatting, you can head back to the starting area to let people know you're free and ready to chat or head to the rest area if you need a break.

We will occasionally invite everyone to wrap up their current conversations and find new partners, so that you get to practice with multiple people.

This is open to all. If you have been coming to the workshops, this can be a great place practice what you've learned. If you haven't, then come hang out with us, whether you're a pro speaker or someone looking to meet new people in a low pressure environment.
