There is no God. So Now What? (open discussion, all welcome)

Details

So God is dead eh? So now what are we to do with ourselves? If you believed in God, what would change in your life by realizing that there is no God? Would you mourn over the loss and become depressed over the idea of 'nothing' after this life? Or would you rejoice over the liberation from living under the thumb of an oppressive supernatural dictator?
Can we find meaning in this temporary world knowing this precious time is all we have? Are we to make the most of it while we can, or is it all just pointless now?

Let's flip this around for a moment: If you are an atheist and we discovered God does indeed exist, how would this affect your life? Would anything change? Would this make you happy, angry, hopeful or fearful? Would you start praying? Or would just say "ok cool" and go on with your life as normal?

The idea of this exercise is to explore the motivations behind our beliefs, and how our personal interests may shape our conclusions. I suspect most people who believe in God want God to exist, and most atheists prefer that God does not exist (at least the one they were taught about growing up). How convenient

To quote from the film Awakenings, the key reason for our conclusions may simply be "because the alternative is unthinkable". I'm inviting all of us to think about the alternatives to our beliefs, and what implications may follow.

What are your thoughts? Come join us for some stimulating conversation! All views and backgrounds welcome. We will also have breakout rooms for open topic & other alternate topics. Hail Zuul.

Rule of etiquette: The goal is to have a productive free-flowing discussion, while also giving everyone a fair chance to participate accordingly. If you have any trouble getting a word in, please use the "Raise Hand" feature. When a hand is raised I will set a 3:00 timer for turns. When no hands are up we continue with a free flow dialog with no timer. No one is obligated to speak if they do not want. Respect for others is a must (or at least please try haha). We're all human (I think).

Hope you can join us!
