Topic: What Would You Live For? What Would You Die For?
Some causes stir us enough that we imagine giving everything for them. History, literature, and culture are full of stories of heroic sacrifice — moments when someone risks or gives their life for love, faith, country, justice, or conviction. Sacrifice can be seen as the highest expression of devotion, a clear and dramatic declaration of what matters most. Yet it can also be complicated — shaped by identity, pressure, fear, loyalty, or the desire to belong. Not all sacrifice is purely noble, and not all devotion requires self-destruction.
But most of life is not lived in dramatic moments. It unfolds in small decisions, long commitments, and the steady choice to keep going. What is truly worth that kind of devotion? What motivates us — love or fear, duty or desire? Are the things we would die for the same things we are willing to shape our lives around? And which asks more of us: a single act of sacrifice, or a lifetime of commitment?
Together, we’ll reflect on conviction, endurance, and what makes something worth giving our lives to — in moments and over time.
Join us as we explore these questions and more in our ongoing monthly discussion series, where we aim to go deeper into what shapes our shared human experience.
