What we’re about
Our goal: have collaborative, thought-provoking deep-dive discussions in a friendly group format by reading books together.
Who are we hoping to meet? Adults of any age who value curiosity, good conversations, and life-long learning.
What happens at our events? We meet weekly for a few hours to discuss whatever part of a book we are working our way through together. Typically, we work on a few chapters at a time depending on the density of the material and we decide the reading pace for the week democratically.
Book Club Discussion Guidelines
- Strive to make everyone feel heard.
- Respect and encourage different opinions.
- Balance staying on topic and going where the discussion takes us.
- Feel free to participate in the discussion as much or as little as your comfort level allows.
- When in doubt: don’t be a jerk.
What books do we read?
- We read non fiction as well as fiction.
- We choose books democratically.
- Generally, we use the following questions when selecting potential books:
a. Will this book prompt great discussions?
b. Is the material appropriately challenging? Not too difficult and not too easy?
c. Is there enough content to have a long format conversation weekly?
