Ever wondered what you'd do if you had to judge someone who broke the law for a good reason? โš–๏ธ Join us for Courtroom of Kindness, a playful but surprisingly moving evening where you step into a courtroom drama with a group of strangers, argue a case, weigh the evidence and decide together what justice actually looks like. ๐Ÿง‘โ€โš–๏ธ๐Ÿ’ฌ

No acting skills needed. No legal knowledge needed. Just bring your curiosity and your sense of fairness.

What's the case? ๐Ÿ”
A real-world hypothetical moral dilemma. Someone has done something they shouldn't have, for a reason that might just be right.
The facts are clear. What they mean isn't. There's no obvious villain, no easy answer and plenty of room for good people to disagree. And there may be a surprise or two hidden in the evidence ๐Ÿ“ฉ

Your courtroom decides: was it wrong? Who else shares the responsibility? And what would actually put things right? โš–๏ธ

How does it work?
Pick your envelope ๐ŸŽ’ One envelope holds speaking roles, the other holds supporting roles. You choose how much of the spotlight you want.

  • Draw your role: prosecution, defence, witness, defendant or jury ๐ŸŽญ
Meet your team and read a short briefing, just enough to know who you are and what you're fighting for ๐Ÿ“„
  • Prepare your case together ๐Ÿค The trial โš–๏ธ Opening statements, witnesses, cross-examination... ๐Ÿ“ฉ
  • Jeopardy ๐Ÿ’ซ Sealed evidence that could turn everything on its head.๐Ÿ˜ฎ
  • The verdict ๐Ÿ—ณ๏ธ A secret ballot, then everyone decides where the responsibility really lies
  • The Circle of Repair ๐ŸŒฑ Step out of your role and work out, together, what would actually put things right

Compare verdicts with the other courtrooms. Same case, same evidence. Will you reach the same answer? ๐Ÿค”

How to get the best out of this event?
โ€ข Respect: While we explore cultures, this event is not a space for debating but about learning and understanding. No judgement on how different cultures and beliefs shape peopleโ€™s lives. ๐Ÿ™๐ŸŒ
โ€ข Be open: We aim to create a welcoming and inclusive environment for members from all cultures. You can help by keeping an open mind. ๐Ÿค—๐Ÿง
โ€ข Share: Feel free to share your own cultural traditions. Everyoneโ€™s perspective is valued, and all stories are welcome. ๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ๐ŸŽ‰
