Deeper Conversations - Monthly Film Club (Nov '26) - Burning (2018)

Join us for a discussion of Lee Chang-dong’s Burning (2018), the acclaimed South Korean mystery drama that competed for the Palme d’Or at Cannes and became the first South Korean film to make the Academy Awards shortlist for Best Foreign Language Film.

Adapted from a short story by Haruki Murakami, Burning is a slow-burning, enigmatic film that rewards close attention and leaves plenty to unpack afterwards.

This is a discussion, not a lecture or debate. You don't need any background in film studies, just watch the movie beforehand and come ready to share your thoughts, listen to others, and engage with the ideas the film raises.

Whether you've seen it before or are watching it for the first time, you're welcome. The most interesting conversations come from a variety of perspectives.
