Free Expat/ Culture/ ESL Meetup (on Zoom)
Details
My free Expat/ Culture/ ESL Meetups on Zoom once a month will take a break in April and will be back in May with the following topic:
Friday, May 31st: 12:30 - 1:30pm Eastern time: Small talk and making friends in the US compared with other cultures. How direct/ indirect, honest, and emotionally expressive can I be? What are good/ bad topics for small talk and how do I handle uncomfortable situations?
As a language teacher, intercultural trainer, and communication skills coach by profession, I offer these free meetups once a month to share my knowledge and experience, and to offer my advice. I also look forward to hearing your stories and the advice you can give others.
I will have a brief presentation on this specific topic in addition to our group discussions and your questions as an expat, professional working in a diverse environment, international traveler, or student studying abroad. Our topics usually evolve around:
- daily life situations living abroad
- differences in culture and communication
- getting adjusted at home, at school, and at work
- making new friends
- communicating successfully at work/ at university
- understanding how to work with US Americans more effectively
- understanding different cultural dimensions
- becoming more confident at communicating across cultures
To register, RSVP for this meetup and get the Zoom link through the event chat a day before the meetup.
