Mobile Hacking, Human Hacking with Social Engineering & TOR internals

Hope you are all ready for the 3rd DEFCON Toronto Meet-up!! The group for hackers, cyber security professionals, and enthusiasts. On Sept1st join us for some exciting cyber security talks, interactive exhibits, networking and free pizza/beer!

Social Engineering/Human Hacking - Nick Aleks

Summary:

Vanity, authority, greed and fear are some of the most powerful vulnerabilities we have been exploiting in humans for thousands of years. In this talk Nick will be showing us all why we all fall victim to social engineering, how penetration testers incorporate social engineering into their engagements, and ways we can harden our brains from these scary types of attacks.

Mobile Hacking Fundamentals - Christopher Clayden

Summary:

Is your phone running slow? Where did you install that APP from? Did you leave your phone somewhere you shouldn't have? Did I leave my Bluetooth on? Was it safe to connect to those public hot spots? How can I protect my myself? Join us as we scratch the surface on mobile hacking fundamentals; a small prelude to much more for future events. Christopher Clayden will present; offering discussion, examples of exploitation primarily focused on the Android OS and will conclude with a live demonstration. Join us – those new to mobile hacking will never look at their mobile phone's the same way again

TOR network (Are you really anonymous?) - Pooria Madani

Summary:

Have you ever wondered how anonymity can be achieved on the Internet? Pioneered by United State Naval Research Laboratory, TOR’s onion routing techniques enables anonymous encrypted communication and has given birth to many hidden website services that are only accessible through TOR protocol, known as Deep Web.
But, are you truly anonymous while using TOR? In this talk, Pooria will present the underlying mechanism of TOR network and explain how anonymity can be achieved using Onion Routing.
